The Power of "Said"
Lately I've been experiencing a lack of creative energy, so in the meantime I've been reading various articles about writers craft. One topic in particular I've focused on is writing dialogue, usage of the word "said", and the over-usage of attributions and synonyms. There are several great articles regarding the subject but one in particular stood out to me: the same article that I stole the above quotation from. The quote wasn't originally an image, but I liked it so much that I turned it into one.
You can read the article in question here. If any of you do so, share your impressions in the comments. Have you ever found yourself falling into the same conventions that the article warns against? I know I certainly have, but I'm trying to improve as best as possible.
I'm also more than happy to read other good articles related to this topic, so if you know of any feel free to toss 'em my way.
